This is a really kick-ass song by rock/punk group The Clash. The lyrics (I never knew before researching) are about the Arab leader in Iran banning disco music.

My strongest memory from Rock the Casbah is from Boston's WBCN morning DJ Charles Laquidara. He started the era of zany morning radio with his show called "The Big Mattress". One morning he decided to play Rock the Casbah for something like 12 hours straight as some type of media stunt.
