Rick Derringer was pretty much a one hit wonder with this rock guitar anthem. I remember going to see Rick Derringer at a place called the Brave Bull Cafe in South Windsor, CT at age 17. I thought it was so cool to see a big time rock and roller in a small place like this. Unfortunately they had the sound blasting so loud it did permanent damage to my hearing. For one that's been to hundreds of concerts after, this stands at the most ear splitting.
Another memory is going to see Rick Derringer as an opener for the band Boston. Me and a number of my teammates on the track team left a track meet early to get ready for the concert, and our disgusted track coach said:
You're passing up a chance to be champions so you can hear noise!
