American Tune is a beautiful song about people coming to this country and not finding their lives to be as wonderful as expected. I think we all feel this way sometimes.

And high up above my eyes could clearly see
The Statue of Liberty
Sailing away to sea

You can't be forever blessed
Still, tomorrow's going to be another working day
And I'm trying to get some rest

Written after Simon and Garfunkel broke up and originally sung by Paul Simon, I fell for the version on the Central Park live album sung by both Simon and Garfunkel.
