Written by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays of the Weavers and first released in 1949, If I Had a Hammer has been performed by just about every folk artist.
I remember this song from about 3rd grade at Buttonball school when the music teacher taught us this song. I found it uplifting then in 1966 and then when I rediscovered this song years later at just about every folk concert and campfire singalong. My favorite version is Peter, Paul, and Mary's but there are many others.
In my top 10 is another classic - written by another great songwriter and brought to life by Peter, Paul, and Mary.
