This song by the Captain and Tennille isn't the usual power rock song or folk anthem that would go in this collection. It's a rather tame poppy song that happened to be a huge hit and associated with on great memory for me.
The top 100 of 1975 was playing on New Year's Eve in 1975, when I wasn't quite old enough to go to parties, but certainly wouldn't hesitate to partake in the open bottles of gin and bourbon my parents had out for the guests. By the time they were playing the number one hit for the year - Love Will Keep Us Together by the Captain and Tennille - I was one hammered 17 year old. My Mom saw me dancing in a much more boisterous way than normal, but didn't care that I'd downed about 4 gin and tonics. For a short time, this song was the greatest.
