Notes
This song brings me back to the days I was in summer camp in 1970. Our counselors played this song over and over. As an 11 year old I didn't realize the seriousness of this song to these 20 year olds who could be drafted to fight in Vietnam anytime.
The lyrics are absolutely brutal in placing the blame for the war.
Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
Country Joe's performance at Woodstock is historic.
