This song is Joni Mitchell painting a perfect picture of how life still has mysteries even after you've experienced it from "both sides". I think many can identify after they've had the first love of their life.

Joni Mitchell first wrote the song in 1967 before she was well known. It was first recorded by folksinger Judy Collins, then subsequently recorded on the Clouds album by Joni Mitchell after Mitchell became more well known. It is now one of the most covered songs from Mitchell's repertoire.
